The FOMi-E3 and FOMi-T3 are high speed fiber optic modems that extend the transmission range of electrical E3 or T3 over fiber optic cables FOMi-E3 for E3 rates and FOMi-T3 for T3 rates.
The standalone version of both modems can optionally support an HSSI DCE interface, which operates at the same rate as the modem type into which it is inserted (E3 at 34.386 Mbps and T3 at 44.736 Mbps). The HSSI option also supports bit rates of one-half and one-fourth of the main link rate. This option enables connection of high speed HSSI routers over public backbones at E3 or T3 rates.
