ABSTRACT:

Security strategies must encompass legacy applications, different OS's and systems such as mainframes and printers that lack typical user interfaces. Use of native IPSec as a security tool has significant limitations for heterogeneous distributed networks. Security professionals must consider encryption tools that are transparent to the network, yet provide sufficient protection for data in motion while controlling network access.

When selecting an encryption solution to secure data transmission within a corporate network, security administrators have the choice of either using the native IPSec found in Windows or Linux operating systems or selecting a third party traditional IPSec VPN/firewall solutions.

This white paper will discuss the strengths of selecting Apani EpiForce® as an alternate third party vendor versus "native" IPSec implementations within a large enterprise.
