ABSTRACT:
The LA Times faced challenges securing its internal network and complying with PCI. To address both issues they decided to implement an IPS. They develop selection criteria, investigated several solutions, and ultimately selected Sourcefire.

Key drivers behind this selection were Sourcefire's RNA product, which was viewed as "much a smarter IPS" and the company's vision, roadmap, partnership, and responsiveness. Since implementing Sourcefire, PCI compliance has been achieved, internal security is dramatically enhanced, and the LA Times' security posture has shifted from reactive to more proactive.
